Das habe ich auf dem Weg zur Arbeit niedergeschrieben, darüber nachgedacht, wie seltsam das Leben und die Gesellschaft wirklich sind. Wie wir uns wortwörtlich kaputt arbeiten, indem wir Dinge tun, die wir hassen, für Menschen, die wir noch nie getroffen haben und denen wir egal sind. Ich habe darüber nachgedacht, wie sie an Vermögen und Macht gewinnen, was ihre Moral verdirbt. Ich mag es nicht, zu verallgemeinern, aber viele dieser Leute kümmern sich nur um sich selbst und um ihr Geld.
In diesem Sinne haben wir “The Void Within” geschrieben. Es geht darum, wie die Lebensweise dieser Menschen das Leben so vieler anderer und den Planeten ruinieren. Ich weiß, dass Geld ein notwendiges Übel ist und es in dieser Gesellschaft ohne nicht funktioniert, aber sein Leben nur danach auszurichten und Geld wie eine Art Gottheit anzubeten, so verliert man den Blick für das, was wirklich wichtig ist.

The Void Within ist ganz klar einer unserer aggressivsten Songs und dennoch melodiös, was perfekt dazu passt, wie wir versuchen, unsere Sichtweise dieser Welt darzustellen. Man sollte immer hinter das schauen, mit was einen die Medien mit ihrer verzerrten Weltanschauung füttern, während sie einen in einen Lebensstil pressen, den man gar nicht haben will. Und auf der anderen Seite kann das Leben so schön sein, wenn man erst einmal aus diesem System ausgebrochen ist und sich selbst gefunden hat.

This is what I wrote down on my way to work one day,
thinking about how life and society are really strange.
How we litteraly break our backs doing things we hate, for people we’ve never met and don’t even care about us.
How they gain in fortune and power, resulting in a corruption of the mind.
I don’t like to generalise, but alot of these people only care for themselves, and money.
And with this in mind, we wrote ‘The Void Within’
About how their way of life ruins so many others, and the planet.
I know that money is a neccesary evil, and in this society you can’t do without.
But to focus your life around it, and worship it like some kind of deity, is how you lose track of what is important.

The Void Within is with ease one of our most aggressive, yet melodic songs, which goes perfectly with how we try to project our vision of this world.
How you should see past what the media is feeding you, pressuring you in a lifestyle you don’t want, and with a distorted view on this world.
And on the other side, how beautiful life can be once you break free from the system and find yourself.
